Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Cleavera collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We’ve written it in plain English.
Template notice: This policy is a starter template. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney, fill in the bracketed details and confirm it matches your actual tools and practices before launch. Remove this note once reviewed.
1. Who we are
Cleavera (“Cleavera,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is operated by [Business legal name], a small US company that sells herbal dietary supplements online through this website (the “Site”). This policy applies to information we collect through the Site, our emails and our customer support. We only sell and ship within the United States.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Order details: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number (if you provide one), the products you buy and your order history.
- Spin-to-win and newsletter sign-ups: the email address you enter to spin for a discount or join our email list, plus the discount code you receive.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you email us or use our contact form, such as your name, email, order number and the content of your message. Our contact form opens your own email app, so the message reaches us as a normal email.
- Subscription details: your bundle size, delivery schedule and any skip, pause or cancel requests.
Payment information
Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. Your full card number goes directly to them and is not stored by Cleavera. We may receive limited details, such as your card type, the last four digits and the billing ZIP code, so we can confirm payments and handle refunds.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting and analytics providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location (city or region), the pages you view, the site that referred you and the date and time of your visit. See Cookies, browser storage and analytics.
Information from others
Our service providers may share information with us that relates to your order, such as delivery updates from shipping carriers or payment confirmations from our payment processor.
3. How we use your information
- To process, ship and track your orders, and to manage subscriptions and renewals.
- To send order confirmations, shipping updates, renewal and account notices, and replies to your questions.
- To issue and apply discount codes, including spin-to-win codes, and to enforce promotion limits such as one spin per customer.
- To send marketing emails if you’ve signed up (see Marketing emails).
- To process refunds, returns and our 60-day money-back guarantee.
- To understand how the Site is used and to improve our products, content and checkout.
- To prevent fraud, protect the security of the Site and comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules.
- To respond to reports of side effects or product concerns.
4. Marketing emails
When you enter your email for spin-to-win or our newsletter, you agree to receive marketing emails from Cleavera, such as herbal rituals, product news and offers. We may also email customers who have bought from us about similar products, where the law allows.
You can unsubscribe anytime using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by emailing hello@cleavera.com. Unsubscribing won’t stop transactional messages about your orders or subscription, which we need to send.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run our business, and only with:
- Service providers who work on our behalf under contracts that limit how they can use your information, including:
- payment processors, to take payments and issue refunds;
- shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, to pack and deliver orders;
- email service providers, to send order emails and newsletters;
- website hosting, analytics, customer support and e-commerce platform providers.
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Cleavera, our customers or others.
- Business transfers: if Cleavera is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must honor this policy.
- With your consent: in any other case where you ask us to or agree to it.
6. We don’t sell your personal information
Cleavera does not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted ads based on your activity across other sites). If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy first and give you a clear way to opt out, including honoring Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
7. Cookies, browser storage and analytics
Browser storage (localStorage)
Our Site uses your browser’s local storage to remember a few things between visits. This information is saved on your own device and includes:
- the items in your cart;
- any discount code you’ve won or applied;
- whether you’ve already seen or used the spin-to-win offer;
- the email address you entered for spin-to-win or the newsletter, so we don’t ask again.
You can clear this anytime by clearing your browser’s site data for this website. The Site will still work, but your cart will be emptied.
Cookies and analytics
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, measure traffic and understand which pages are helpful. We use analytics to see trends, not to build profiles of individual visitors. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features, like checkout, may not work properly without them.
Our Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, because there’s no common standard for them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described above.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, including the categories of information, where it came from, why we use it and who we share it with.
- Delete personal information we’ve collected from you, subject to some exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes).
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising or profiling. We don’t do these today.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it only as needed to provide our products and services.
- Get a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We won’t deny you products, charge you a different price or give you a lower level of service because you made a privacy request.
How to make a request
Email hello@cleavera.com with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us what you’d like us to do. To protect your information, we’ll verify your request by matching details you give us (such as your email and a recent order number) with our records. You can also use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that they’re acting for you.
We’ll respond within 45 days, or let you know if we need more time as the law allows. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our response with the subject line “Privacy appeal,” and we’ll review it again.
Categories of information (California notice)
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, for the purposes described in section 3, and disclosed them only to the service providers described in section 5:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, shipping address, IP address |
| Customer records | Billing address, phone number, limited payment details |
| Commercial information | Products purchased, order and subscription history |
| Internet activity | Pages viewed, referring site, browser and device type |
| Approximate location | City or region derived from IP address |
9. Health-related information
We don’t ask for medical information. Still, your purchase of an herbal supplement, or details you choose to share with us (for example, when you report a side effect), could be considered health-related information under some state laws, such as Washington’s My Health My Data Act. We use this information only to fulfill your order, provide customer support and meet safety and legal obligations. We don’t sell it or use it for targeted advertising, and you can ask us to delete it as described above.
10. Children’s privacy
Our products are for adults, and the Site is not directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
11. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Order and payment records are generally kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require (often up to seven years). Marketing email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only what we need to honor your choice. Support emails are kept for as long as they’re useful for helping you.
12. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and trusted payment processors that handle card data. No website or online service is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident that affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by law.
The Site may link to other websites, such as the FDA or our payment processor. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know by email or with a notice on the Site before they take effect.
